Our main day-to-day work involves enterprise .Net development so we're new to the deployment aspects of Linux and Rails. Slicehost have a great virtual server setup allowing safe tinkering and restoring of your VPS via a web console. Combine this with excellent step by step docs on hooking up Ubuntu, Apache, Ruby, MySql and you have a great solution. We use rails mainly for the freedom and time savings it gives you so are happy to finally be getting the deployment bit sorted.

Firework.com is hosted on a slice and we'll be migrating the other sites across as time allows. We currrently host one site on our Centos dedicated box whilst another on a HostingRails shared setup.
